(La Tour, Maurice Quentin de) (1704-1788), французский художник, портретист эпохи рококо. Родился 5 сентября 1704 в Сен-Кантене (департамент Эна). В молодости Латур приехал в Париж, где обучался живописи у Клода Дюпуша. Приятная манера исполнения камерных пастельных портретов, отличавшихся достоверным сходством, вскоре сделала художника популярным. Ему позировали Вольтер, Руссо, Д'Аламбер, король Людовик XV, маркиза Помпадур, художники, актрисы, общественные деятели эпохи Просвещения. В 1746 он стал членом Королевской академии, а с 1750 - "живописцем короля". Умер Латур в Сен-Кантене 17 февраля 1788.

Optimal stopping problems can be found in areas of statistics, economics, and mathematical finance (related to the pricing of American options). A key example of an optimal stopping problem is the secretary problem. Optimal stopping problems can often be written in the form of a Bellman equation, and are therefore often solved using dynamic programming.
